Did you ever imagine someone could summarize most of their professional life in less than three hundred words? I didn't either, but if you keep reading, you'll learn a little more about me and the stages of my journey as a Learning & Development professional.Â
The first stage was Delivery, where I facilitated live and virtual training classes for AT&T's Collections group. I learned so much in the classroom about the different ways learners absorb information and have used that knowledge in my work as an Instructional Designer. I also was "on loan" to the Design group for two years, which gave me invaluable insight into the instructional design process.
The second stage was Design, where I transitioned to creating the types of courses I had facilitated for years. While designing for AT&T's almost eighty-thousand Care and Retail experts, I fell in love with the full breadth of the design process. Everything from needs analysis and high-level design plans to working with subject matter experts and creating the finished course using the authoring tools. My skills of cross-collaboration and agility were crucial in delivering the finished course on or even before the target.
The third stage was Web Development, which made my course design even more interactive and engaging. From CSS customization to building unique actions with HTML and JavaScript, it allowed me to offer options above and beyond what could be created in the out-of-the-box version of the authoring tool. I enjoyed that part of the process so much that I am planning to pursue a degree in Computer Science and discover even more ways to enhance my course offerings.
So that's it. That's where the story ends, for now. Soon I'll be writing the next chapter and I'm excited to see what the future holds!
